Past Continuous Tense

Pola: S + was/were + Verb-ing

·        Menyatakan suatu kegiatan yang sedang berlangsung pada waktu lampau saat kegiatan lain terjadi atau kegiatan yang menyela kegiatan lain di waktu lampau.

When + Simple past tense, + Past continuous tense

atau

Past continuous tense + when + Simple past tense

Contoh: 

- The engine was running when it suddenly stopped.

- When Paul came home, Dominic was playing football

·      Menyatakan dua kegiatan yang berlangsung bersamaan pada waktu lampau.

Past continuous tense + while + Past continuous tense

atau

While + Past continuous tense, + Past continuous tense

Contoh:  

- Mitha was cooking guitar while Rianngo was smoking.

- While miler was cooking a food, john was smoking.

·      Menyatakan suatu tindakan yang sedang berlangsung pada waktu tertentu dimasa lampau.

Contoh:  

- Dom was driving at 11 last night.

- Travis was playing a console at 9 yesterday.
